It is a pleasure to present the next two books in the Independent Psychoanalytic Work with Children and Adolescents book series, the marque of the IPCAPA child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapy training at the British Psychotherapy Foundation.

Peter Wilson is one of the original founders of the then BAP, now IPCAPA, child and adolescent training.  Until recently, he was also a much valued teacher and clinical supervisor there.  We are delighted that he has decided to publish this collection of his papers with this training school.  "I don't know" is a necessary  prelude for adolescents and scientists to then open their minds to learn more and is a plea to adolescents and all around them to think and reflect rather more than to act out and do.

Maria Papadima, Rachel Acheson and Nikolaos Tzikas are all graduates of the training, working across public and private settings, and all engaged in teaching and supervision.  Global concerns over adolescents in crisis motivated them to assess ways of engaging with this patient group and of understanding how ordinary development today can often become an overwhelming prospect.  This is an important and very helpful book.  Together with Peter's, it offers thinking and creativity as an antidote to activity, and to thus mirroring the defences of the adolescent.

The authors will be pleased to engage with those present in thinking about work with adolescents.  The volumes will be available at discount.

They may even be prepared to sign them....
